Latinx Heritage Month

During National Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15 – October 15), the U.S. recognizes the important presence of Latin American immigrants and celebrates their heritage and culture.

At ECU, we name the celebration Latinx Heritage Month to be more inclusive of the experiences and identities of our students, staff and community. We also take this time to recognize the present issues facing the Latinx community and the future of what it means to be Latinx.

Native American Heritage Month

Native American Heritage Month, celebrated in the month of November is dedicated to recognizing and honoring Indigenous cultures across the country. During this month the Ledonia Wright Cultural Center and ECU hosts a myriad of events for Native students to celebrate their unique and vibrant traditions and tribes and for the larger campus community to come together to learn more about Native tribes and communities.

Black History Month

During Black History Month, celebrated nationally during the month of February, the U.S. recognizes the important presence of African Americans and those from the African diaspora through the celebration of their heritage and culture. We also take this time to recognize the present issues facing the Black/African American community and the future of what it means to be Black.

Asian & Pacific Islander Heritage Month

During Asian & Pacific Islander Month, celebrated nationally during the month of May, the U.S. recognizes the important presence of Asian and Pacific Islander community through the celebration of their heritage and culture. We also take this time to recognize the present issues facing the Asian & Pacific Islander community and the future of what it means to be Asian and Pacific Islander.
