LWCC provides opportunities to empower students to create inclusive and equitable communities. 

Mission:

The Ledonia Wright Cultural Center (LWCC) at East Carolina University provides specialized diversity and social justice experiences so all students can become confident, culturally aware, global citizens. Additionally, LWCC provides programming and services to support student success.

Learning Outcomes:

  • UNDERSTANDING & APPRECIATION OF CULTURAL & HUMAN DIFFERENCES: Students will be offeredauthentic cultural programming to increase students’ understanding of various heritages, cultures, and identities. 
  • EFFECTIVE LEADERSHIP: Students willwork to create safe environments where power, privilege, and stereotypical assumptions are examined using meaningful dialogue, mutual sharing, and reflection.
  • CONNECTING KNOWLEDGE TO EXPERIENCE & IDEAS: Students willutilize their personal experience andnewfoundknowledge to create a more socially just society .
  • IDENTITY DEVELOPMENT: Students willidentify their power and privilege as they make meaningof their identities in relationship to the systems of oppressionthrough dialogue, mutual sharing and reflection.
